This week on Dynamite, AEW shocked the world by renaming one of its biggest stars, Adam Copeland. The WWE Hall of Famer is now known as Cope, which has drawn varied reactions from fans on social media.
Cope is best known for his time in WWE, where he was known as Edge. It is unknown why the 51-year-old's ring moniker was changed all of a sudden. However, by having a four-letter on-screen name for most of his pro wrestling career, the former AEW TNT Champion has achieved immense success.
The name change has received massive backlash from many fans online. They are calling it a terrible idea and want the company's creative team to be fired.
On AEW Dynamite: Fight for the Fallen, the returning Cope and FTR, collectively known as Rated FTR, locked horns with The Death Riders' Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta. This trios showdown lasted for almost nineteen minutes and ended with a victory for the babyfaces.
AEW star Cope wants to wrestle in Arena México
Cope is a true student of the craft. He has performed in numerous iconic pro wrestling venues around the world. However, he has never wrestled at the legendary Arena México. Recently, The Rated-R Superstar revealed that he wanted to perform at the CMLL-owned arena.
"I'd love to wrestle in Arena México. Never worked there for CMLL or anything like that, so I think that would be great. I've been [there] as a fan, at the time I was world champ (...) so I went to this show with a lucha mask on and I sat in the third row and watched the entire show," said the WWE Hall of Famer. Cope was sidelined for several months in 2024 due to injury. It remains to be seen what's next in his feud against The Death Riders.
