A veteran recently criticized one of Tony Khan's booking decisions, stating it as irrefutable proof that WWE would have been a better place for MJF. According to the veteran in question, Bill Apter, AEW All In needed names with more star power in its matches.
AEW All In's declared matches have one of the biggest stars of the company performing in a match against Daniel Garcia. While the latter is a talented pro-wrestler in his own right, Bill Apter thinks he is not yet at the level of MJF when it comes to popularity and the ability to draw.
Speaking on Sportskeeda's UnSKripted, the veteran journalist stated that the Salt of the Earth practically had no worthy opponents active in AEW at the moment:
"No disrespect whatsoever to Daniel Garcia. He is an amazing pro-wrestler and he is really gaining steam, but for Wembley, it's gonna be Danial Garcia and MJF, MJF in one of the main events. Again, no disrespect to Danial Garcia, but I think MJF needed to be with another major showcase name and I can't find that person unless it is someone like Bryan Danielson, maybe? Or Adam Copeland? I cannot find that person currently in AEW. Had he gone to WWE, yes there would have been that mid card probably beginning for him. But I think he would have had a lot more choices in terms of name value talent to wrestle against," Apter said. [5:13 onwards]
As of now, it remains to be seen what is next for MJF, and whether WWE may be in his horizon.
