AEW recently changed Collision's theme song. Now some recent reports have shed light on the reason for this change.
Last year, AEW decided to launch a third show called Collision. The show was being marketed and promoted as a major show alongside Dynamite. The opening episode saw the return of CM Punk, who was coming back from suspension. Collision was also known for having a cool opening sequence with Elton John's "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" playing as the theme song. This made it stand out from its other two shows.
However, a year after the launch, Tony Khan's promotion recently changed the theme song for Collision which caused a lot of speculation in the pro wrestling world. Dave Meltzer commented on the Wrestling Observer Radio that the change was made as a result of cost-cutting measures. He also noted that the company had made several cutbacks to its production costs as well.
"A lot of heat, obviously, because they changed the opening theme. It's interesting because people keep bringing it up and it's true, there's a lot of cutbacks being made in production. You would think this would not be the time to do that. Obviously this Arlington residency, the whole thing there is cost-saving...They dumped the Elton John song and they put their own new song in place. And obviously that's a cost-saving thing but I thought the Elton John, to me, that was a real cool open," said Meltzer.

AEW was forced to make a couple of changes on Collision after Skye Blue's injury
Last week on AEW Collision, Skye Blue faced off against Hikaru Shida. During the match, Skye injured a leg, which resulted in Shida picking up the win.
Fightful Select has since reported that the company is hopeful that Skye will be fine after her injury. It was also reported that the promotion made a lot of changes to the show following the 24-year-old's injury. However, no specifics were provided regarding those changes planned.
Only time will tell when Skye Blue can recover from her ankle injury and return to in-ring action at the Jacksonville-based promotion.
