Prominent wrestling journalist Sean Ross Sapp of Fighful Select has revealed that AEW star Miro has requested his release from the company. The 38-year-old joined Tony Khan's promotion back in 2020 after parting ways with WWE.
Miro has not wrestled for AEW in 2024. His last match was against Andrade El Idolo at AEW Worlds End 2023 which ended with his triumph. Reports suggest that over the past few years, the former Rusev has had creative differences with the Jacksonville-based company. This might be the real reason why The Redeemer wants to leave.
It has not been revealed if Tony Khan has granted the 38-year-old's request or not. Furthermore, at the moment, it is not known if he will rejoin the Triple H-led promotion.
The AEW contract Miro signed upon first joining them was for two years. When it was close to expiring in the spring of 2022, he signed an extension. The length of this new contract was four years, which will keep him in the promotion till AEW until Spring 2026.
Although things haven't worked out well for The Bulgarian Brute in the Tony Khan-led company, he still managed to win the AEW TNT Championship once. In the WWE, he won the WWE United States Championship thrice. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the star.
