Injuries are very common in the field of pro wrestling, and a popular AEW star was recently ruled out of action until 2025 due to an injury. The star being discussed here is Dalton Castle.
On the July 13 edition of AEW Collision, Castle locked horns with Roderick Strong. The winner of the match was set to face Mark Briscoe at ROH Death Before Dishonor 2024. The bout saw Strong emerging victorious from the battle. Castle not only lost the match but also suffered an injury.
Later, Tony Khan updated the fans that the injured star would be out for the rest of 2024. During the match, Strong knocked out Castle with his knee. It was said that the latter suffered a concussion during the match.
Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live disclosed the real reason for Castle being ruled out of action until 2025 is not any injury to the head but another type of injury that requires him to go under the knife. The nature of the injury wasn't revealed. Alvarez stated:
“Dalton got knocked out by Roderick Strong but apparently was not diagnosed with a concussion. The reason that he’s out for the rest of the year actually has nothing to do with his head but he suffered a different injury and needs surgery. What the injury is, I don’t know specifically.” (H/T wrestlingnews.co)
Another star was injured on AEW Collision 07/13
The July 13 AEW Collision episode saw another star getting injured. Skye Blue took on Hikaru Shida in a singles match on the show. During one point in the match, Shida attempted to deliver a crossbody from the ring onto Skye who was present ringside.
Shida had an impactful landing but caught Blue's knee in an awkward position. This resulted in the latter sustaining an injury. The referee immediately stopped the match and the injured star was taken backstage by officials.
Tony Khan provided an update on Skye Blue, informing the fans that she had injured her ankle. As of now, there is no update on the extent of her ankle injury or how long it will put her on the shelf.
