Released 6ft 5in WWE star drops major hint at a move to AEW after backstage visit at Worlds End

A former WWE star hinted at joining AEW after his run in another major promotion. The star was backstage at the recent Worlds End 2024 pay-per-view as well.

The 6ft 5in star in question is current TNA star, AJ Francis (fka Top Dolla) who was released from WWE in September 2023 after a brief three-year run in the promotion. Francis was known for his stint as part of the Hit Row faction in the Stamford-based promotion. He has been performing on TNA since the beginning of 2024.

AJ Francis also challenged Nic Nemeth for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship at the recent Final Resolution 2024 event. Francis was backstage at AEW Worlds End 2024 and reportedly met some of his friends in the locker room.

Meanwhile, AJ Francis dropped a hint at moving away from TNA and joining All Elite Wrestling. Francis recently posted a video on X talking about his future and teased joining Tony Khan's promotion or even returning to NXT:

"Am I gonna stay in TNA and remain the First Class CEO, TN-AJ Francis? Am I gonna go over to AEW and turn it into AJ-EW? Am I gonna go back to NXT and face Oba Femi, or am I gonna go back to the main roster on Smackdown and get the run that I so definitely deserve?” Francis said. [H/T Inside The Ropes]

Former WWE star confirmed his visit at AEW Worlds End 2024

As mentioned earlier, the former WWE star, AJ Francis (fka Top Dolla) was backstage at AEW Worlds End 2024. The 34-year-old star confirmed his backstage visit with a post on X thanking Tony Khan, QT Marshall, and Shawn Dean.

"'One Day Talent' 💰Thank you to @TonyKhan @QTMarshall & @ShawnDean773 for allowing me to see some friends and have a fun night."

AJ Francis has been reinventing himself since getting released from WWE and only time will tell if he will be seen in All Elite Wrestling in 2025.
