Rey Fenix is set to make his return outside AEW. This comes amid the rumors that he is going to WWE.
Rey Fenix is one of the best high-flyers in the world of professional wrestling. Although he is primarily known as a tag team wrestler, Fenix has proven that he can compete in singles matches as well. The AEW star also previously won the International Championship by defeating Jon Moxley.
However, his booking in Tony Khan's promotion has been poor in recent months. Given the immense skills of Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo, it should come as no surprise that WWE is interested in signing The Lucha Brothers. However, Tony Khan has tried to stop this by adding extra injury time to Fenix's contract, forcing the latter to stay in the promotion.
Amid the rumors of Rey signing with the Stamford-based company, he has been announced for a special meet and greet at House of Glory Wrestling's Live for The Moment on December 20.
Former WWE writer buries Judgment Day HERE
"🔥🔥BREAKING🔥🔥 International Lucha Libre superstar, @ReyFenixMx, will be on hand for a special Meet & [sic] Greet Friday, December 20th, at #LiveForTheMoment!" the promotion posted on X.
Rey Fenix issued a statement regarding recent contract developments
It has been rumored for the past several months that The Lucha Bros. could be headed to WWE. But nothing has been confirmed as of yet. To prevent this from happening, Tony Khan extended Fenix's contract well into 2025. On the other hand, Penta El Zero Miedo's contract with the Jacksonville-based promotion expired recently, and he is currently a free agent. However, it is unknown if he will join the Stamford-based company before his brother.
In the wake of this contract development, Rey Fenix took to his Instagram account to remind fans that he and Penta need to be professionals first and foremost to protect the integrity of the business.
"There are many things that are not known, but that also should not be talked about. We must wait. Professionalism first and foremost, folks. We must not be the same as all those podcasts that go around spitting out what should not be spit out. Never diminish our work. There are things that should always be respected, and many are forgetting everything that wrestling has given them," Rey said. [H/T: WrestlingInc]
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for The Lucha Bros., given Rey Fenix's contract situation.
