AEW star Rey Fenix recently posted a cryptic message on social media. He hasn't been seen on AEW TV since July 2024. He last wrestled on Collision, where he defeated Tony Nese.
The former International Champion had planned to depart the company along with his real-life brother, Penta El Zero Miedo. However, Tony Khan decided to add injury time to the luchador's deal. As a result, Penta is currently a free agent, while Rey is still under contract with AEW.
Rey Fenix recently posted tweets that were seemingly directed at AEW. In one tweet, he wrote about the 'inhumane' treatment he'd received. The masked star also claimed that he didn't receive proper medical support when he needed it. A few days later, he deleted the tweets from the social media platform.
On Instagram, Rey Fenix wrote that he is staying strong, seemingly referencing the current situation where he isn't being used in AEW.

Eric Bischoff speaks on Rey Fenix's situation
The former International Champion hasn't been featured on AEW TV in months, nor has he been released by the promotion.
While speaking on 83 Weeks, Eric Bischoff stated that Rey is currently in 'prison' as Tony Khan extended his time with AEW while he wanted to exit it.
"He's in prison. Can't go anywhere. Every time he tries, he's gonna get his hand slapped. The fact that he had to take down his tweets tells me everything that I need to know. He's got exposure. This is gonna be a legal situation. It clearly is already, which means it's only gonna get uglier," he said.
It will be interesting to see when Fenix will become a free agent. Fans are interested in seeing what his next step will be after his AEW exit.
