Jax Dane is no more, and that news has hit the wrestling community like a bag of bricks. The NWA wrestler passed away on December 25 from complications of a heart attack he suffered in November.
He was a decorated wrestler on the independent circuit. He was a one-time NWA World Champion and a two-time NWA National Heavyweight Champion. As the World Champion, he held the title for 419 days, one of the longest reigns in NWA history.
As news broke of his passing, several AEW stars took to social media to express their shock and disbelief that their dear friend was no longer with them. One of them was Ricky Starks, who wrote that he was still in disbelief about what had happened.
"in disbelief about you man Jax Dane…damn," Starks wrote.
Dustin Rhodes also wrote what a shining light Jax Dane was to the world. Truth Magnum of the Outrunners reminisced what a good man he was.
Another wrestler who paid tribute was Matt Cardona. While not a full-time AEW star, Cardona does appear from time to time in the company and wrote what horrible news this was.
The incredible wrestling career of Jax Dane
Jax Dane was born on April 10, 1976, and made his wrestling debut in 2009. Despite his late start, he made waves in the world of wrestling.
He worked for the National Wrestling Alliance from 2012 to 2016. During that time, he won the NWA National Heavyweight Championship and defeated Tim Storm to win the American Heavyweight Title.
He then moved to Ring of Honor, where he worked from 2016 to 2017. After a successful yet short stint there, Impact Wrestling snapped him up in 2017. In 2018, he moved to Ohio Valley Wrestling and simultaneously worked for NWA.
He was a great wrestler, and the wrestling community will undoubtedly miss his presence.
The Sportskeeda community extends its heartfelt condolences to Dane's family and friends in this difficult time.
