Ricky Starks has been out of action for most of the year, but he's set to return to the ring this Sunday. The former AEW World Tag Team Champion sent out a message today to promote his upcoming match.
Starks' status in AEW has been a topic of constant speculation. He's been missing from television since March, and rumors have swirled about his desire to jump to WWE. For now, the 34-year-old is staying busy outside All Elite Wrestling, and his latest entanglement involves an old rival.
Ricky Starks shockingly turned up in Glory Pro Wrestling last month, where he confronted Kody Lane. He challenged Lane to a match at GPW's WrestlePocalypse event, which takes place this Sunday, November 24.
The AEW star took to X (fka Twitter) today to promote the match. He also announced a meet & greet. Check it out:

Ricky Starks explains why he's competing for Glory Pro Wrestling
Ricky Starks is a fan favorite in AEW, but his underutilization has frustrated many over the last few years. The 34-year-old's status hit a low this year as he dropped the AEW World Tag Team Championship and disappeared from television for months.
Starks still hasn't returned, and updates on his status have been few and far between. In a recent interview with Weekend Joe, he explained that he gets stir-crazy if he stays at home for too long. This is why he jumped at the opportunity to wrestle his old rival, Kody Lane, in Glory Pro Wrestling:
"I can't be stuck at home for too much longer. Obviously, I go stir-crazy, and I saw an opportunity with Kody Lane to come out and challenge for the title, of course, and I thought it was even a better idea because I used to actually live in St. Louis. I used to live in Melville, of all places. So I thought it was a good way to make a return, and also, I've known Kody for quite a bit, he used to train here in Texas, and I said, 'Well, why not just come back and test the grit against somebody that I'm very much familiar with.'"
Starks and Lane have shared the ring many times in the past. In singles competition, they're currently tied at 2-2, making this something of a rubber match for them. The two last squared off on January 20, 2019, before Ricky Starks was All Elite.
