Ricky Starks' next match has been confirmed. Following the confirmation, he sent a message about his opponent on social media.

When Ricky Starks debuted in AEW he got over with the fans easily and also won the World Tag Team Championship with Big Bill. However, he has rarely featured on AEW television after losing the title. This caused fans to think that perhaps Starks was injured. However, he debunked those rumors. Then there was speculation that he was leaving the company and heading to WWE when his contract expired. Many people believed this rumor due to the AEW star's close friendship with Cody Rhodes. But the former FTW Champion stated that he wasn't going anywhere.

Starks has not appeared on AEW programming since the March 30 episode of Collision, when he teamed up with Big Bill to face Top Flight. However, he has competed outside the Jacksonville-based promotion. Game Changer Wrestling recently announced that the All Elite star would compete at Highest in the Room 3 against Matt Cardona. Following the announcement, Starks took to his X (fka Twitter) account with a message about his opponent.

"@TheMattCardona has learned from the worst, obviously. See you December 14th," he wrote.

Ricky Starks recently aired his frustration amid his AEW absence

Ricky Starks' current situation has been very puzzling as fans have been trying to figure out why Tony Khan has one of his most consistent performers on the shelf for no reason. At one point, Starks was one of the company's top guys and was on the receiving end of a major push when he defeated CM Punk to win the Owen Hart Tournament 2023.

However, it seems like Stark has become a bit of an afterthought for the AEW boss in recent months. This has the former FTW Champion feeling frustrated. Recently, Ricky made a controversial appearance at a GCW show and cut a promo airing his frustration about his current situation. He also made it clear that he no longer wants to sit at home and waste his career.

“One thing about me—passion runs through my blood and I will be damned if I sit at home and I get frozen out. I’ll be damned if I sit at home and let my career dwindle,” he said.

Based on his promo, it looks like Ricky Starks is going to take more bookings on the indie circuit going forward.
