Ricochet shocked the pro wrestling world earlier this year when he left WWE to join AEW. The departure came while his fiancée, Samantha Irvin, was still working for WWE as a popular ring announcer. The rumors and speculation on Irvin joining her fiancé picked up immediately and have continued ever since. Ricochet himself is now offering a big update on Irvin's post-WWE career and potential AEW debut.

The One and Only had been with AEW for 58 days when Irvin announced her WWE departure in late October. Speculation on Irvin joining Ricochet in AEW began as soon as he left WWE, but the rumor mill really cranked up when Irvin left. However, the former American Idol contestant left her former employer due to being unhappy with her role and later indicated that she no longer wanted to be a ring announcer, even in AEW.

Ricochet has now made it clear that Irvin does not want to be a ring announcer moving forward. Speaking to The Wrestling Classic, the 36-year-old was asked if there's any chance we will see his fiancée in AEW to perform a special ring announcement for one of Ricochet's big matches.

"Probably not. I would say no... I wouldn't even want her to do that. I think she just doesn't want to be a ring announcer at all. Any type of announcing, whether it's boxing, UFC, NFL, or baseball, she doesn't want to announce the people's names, she doesn't... 'And here from Lexington, Kentucky!' She doesn't want to do that specific act... she still would love to be a character, be in a story, she would love to be... you know, make the fans feel emotions, and make them go through the roller-coaster of emotions that she would like," Ricochet said. The Highlight of the Night continued:

"But simply calling someone's weight and town, and telling them to come out, she doesn't want to do that anymore. [so we will see her involved, just not ring announcing?] Oh, I mean that's up to her... I don't know if she's into wrestling right now because I really believe she doesn't like the toxicity of it at the moment. She's honestly just been loving not being a part of it, she loves being a wrestling fan now, too, because people are like, 'You can't be saying that!' She was like, 'What are you talking about? Don't worry, I'm just a fan now, I can say whatever I want as a fan.' She's having honestly the most fun she's had in a long time," Ricochet said. [From 14:27 to 15:07]

Ricochet recently addressed claims that he is a lazy worker. The veteran grappler is currently participating in AEW's Continental Classic as a Gold League competitor. However, he currently has zero points after losing to Claudio Castagnoli on last week's Dynamite, which came days after he failed to dethrone International Champion Konosuke Takeshita at Full Gear.

Ricochet's next AEW Continental Classic match set

All Elite Wrestling recently began its 2024 Continental Classic. The tournament will wrap at Worlds End on December 28.

Ricochet will wrestle his next C2 match next Wednesday, December 11, during the Winter Is Coming edition of Dynamite. He will wrestle Brody King in a Gold League match, and this will be their first-ever singles bout. The Highlight of the Night kicked off the C2 last week on the Thanksgiving Eve Dynamite. He was defeated by Claudio Castagnoli, who earned three points with the win.

AEW Worlds End will feature three C2 matches. In the League Final #1, the Blue League's first-place winner will face the Gold League's second-place talent. The League Final #2 will feature the first-place Gold winner vs. the second-place Blue competitor, and the winners of those two matches will compete in the Championship Final.
