Rumor killer on WWE rejecting proposal for major match featuring Chelsea Green and former AEW star

The recent rumors about WWE rejecting a match involving Chelsea Green and former AEW star Joey Janela have been shot down by none other than The Bad Boy. Joey left All Elite Wrestling in 2022.

WWE has had a working relationship with GCW and many stars like Shayna Baszler and The Creed Brothers have wrestled some matches for the promotion. However, a recent revelation about WWE rejecting GCW’s request to lend Chelsea Green for an event has been making rounds on social media.

It was recently reported by Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE shot down the idea of Matt Cardona teaming up with his wife Chelsea Green to face Joey Janela and Megan Bayne at the Hammerstein Ballroom show.

However, former AEW star Joey Janela has responded to the report and called it fake. He claimed that a match involving Chelsea Green was never planned and revealed that he knew nothing about GCW's creative plans:

"Fake news, I was never slated for a match involving Chelsea. The original match had me on suicide watch though, as soon as that thankfully fell through Tanaka was booked within 24 hours per my request. Can’t say I know anything else about Chelsea and I know 0% about GCW creative plans, my involvement has always been GREATLY exaggerated."

GCW's Effy recently spoke about Matt Cardona and Chris Jericho's rivalry in AEW

GCW promoter Effy recently commented on Matt Cardona and Chris Jericho’s recent angle. Effy recently made some controversial comments about Tony Khan which seemingly made the fans question how Matt Cardona and Chris Jericho started there angle in All Elite Wrestling.

In a recent chat with The Ringer, Effy revealed that he texted Matt Cardona after seeing his appearance in AEW. He praised the former WWE star and said that he's excited to see what's to come in the future.

"What is going to be something that is planned or what is something that wasn’t planned and that we’re gonna roll with now. I’m excited to see it, it got me fired up last night. I messaged Matt Cardona, I said he was the funniest man of all time. He’s taught me so much about the way to approach this business and I do see some of my weaknesses in being too honest and too emotional," Effy said. [H/T: Fightful]
