AEW star Miro has reportedly requested his release. He joined the promotion in 2020 after his run in the WWE ended. Even though he is a former AEW TNT Champion, he has not been immensely successful in the Jacksonville-based company.
Per Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Miro and AEW have had creative differences for the past few years. When he first signed for the promotion, his contract was set to expire in the spring of 2022. However, he extended his stay by signing a new contract. If Tony Khan does not grant the 38-year-old his wish, he will stay with the company till the spring of 2026.
Nevertheless, fans across the globe believe that "The Redeemer" has been heavily underutilized in AEW. When the news of his release request broke out, they took to X (Twitter) to voice their opinions on this issue. Most of them want him to leave All Elite Wrestling. Furthermore, some fans are certain that he is WWE-bound and want to see him lock horns with the top names of the company.
According to Powerhouse Hobbs, his match against Miro was the "best big-man match" in AEW history
At All Out 2023, Powerhouse Hobbs locked horns with Miro. This was a hard-hitting match, whose victor was the latter. Interstingly, according to Hobbs, his showdown with "The Bulgarian Brute" was the "best big-man match" in the history of AEW:
"They tell you what they want and they wanted more of it and I believe that-that was the best big man match in the history of this company so far," said Hobbs
It remains to be seen what the future holds for the former Rusev. Hopefully, there is interest from his previous home, especially if there are no plans for him in AEW.
