A top AEW star sent a loving message to Sami Zayn recently on social media. The star being discussed is the current ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe. He has been a part of AEW since 2023. He and his late brother, Jay Briscoe, were involved in many tag team classics.
The Great Liberator has been one of the most charismatic stars in the company. Before winning multiple championships in WWE under the name of Sami Zayn, he wrestled under the name of El Generico early in his career. He and Kevin Owens, known as Kevin Steen then, were a popular tag team in ROH.
Sami and Kevin had many memorable matches with the Briscoe Brothers as they battled for the ROH World Tag Team Championship. In the Man Up event held in 2007, the Briscoe Brothers defeated Kevin and El Generico to retain their tag team championships. Recently, Sami Zayn reacted to the bout's clip on social media, praising the Briscoe brothers.
Mark Briscoe responded to the former Intercontinental Champion, saying that the tag team matches between them were some of the greatest memories of his life.
"Some of the greatest memories of my life involve the 4 of us beating the ever loving s**t out of each other… Love you man!" he wrote.

AEW star Kenny Omega talks about his match with Sami Zayn
The Great Liberator has had many great matches as El Generico in the independent circuit. He wrestled Kenny Omega in PWG many years ago.
While speaking on his Twitch stream, The Best Bout Machine claimed that his favorite opponent in PWG was El Generico and joked about him retiring in Mexico.
"My favorite match in PWG? That's a good question. One that I really enjoyed that I think was just so fun to watch from start to finish was my match against, and, I mean, he's long since retired, but before he retired and went back to his orphanage in Mexico, I had a good match with a guy named El Generico, do you guys remember him?" he said.
It remains to be seen if Sami Zayn ever appears as El Generico in WWE.
