Former WWE Divas Champion Saraya, formerly known as Paige, opened up on the actual reason why she has been absent from AEW programming. The 32-year-old star revealed the reason during her appearance on a recent award show.
Saraya has been off television for more than a month now. She last appeared on the October 8, 2024, episode of AEW Dynamite, where she competed in a Four-way number-one contender's match against Willow Nightingale, Jamie Hayter, and Nyla Rose. However, she failed to get a shot at the AEW Women's World Championship.
Amid her absence, Saraya was recently spotted on the red carpet of the 11th annual American Reality Television Awards, also known as The ARTAS, with a different look. Fans have been wondering where the former WWE Divas Champion has been amid her absence from AEW. Nevertheless, the 32-year-old star finally disclosed the reason for her absence from TV since last month.
While speaking to The Buzz media outlet, the former AEW Women's World Champion stated that she was taking a little break from the Tony Khan-led promotion so she could attend more events like the award shows. Saraya also revealed that she will be seen as a co-host on MTV's Catfish: The TV Show soon as she has already filmed for that.
AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone wants a match against Saraya
AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone, formerly known as Sasha Banks, recently expressed that she cannot wait to face Saraya as her brother wants to see the match between the two women soon. The CEO and the former Paige also have a lot of history since their days in WWE. In the recent edition of her Mone Mag newsletter, Mercedes wrote the following:
"Joshua's face lit up as we walked by the AEW trucks, but when he saw Saraya on one of the trucks, he couldn’t contain himself, constantly asking, 'Mercedes, when are you going to wrestle Saraya?' That’s his dream match for me, and I can’t wait to make it happen someday."
Only time will tell when fans will witness a feud between Saraya and Mercedes Mone in AEW.
