According to Jim Ross, Shane McMahon could potentially sign with AEW. His comments come after recent reports suggesting McMahon is no longer under a WWE contract.
Good Ol' JR made headlines recently when he shared his views on Shane McMahon potentially working with All Elite Wrestling. His co-host, Conrad Thompson, further claimed that Shane had reached out to AEW talent to "hypothetically" discuss the idea of his joining the Jacksonville-based promotion. However, Dave Meltzer has since reported that the alleged conversation between McMahon and an ex-WWE star in All Elite Wrestling did not pertain to his signing with the company.
During the latest episode of the Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross and Conrad Thompson discussed their previous conversation regarding the prospect of Shane McMahon arriving at AEW. Ross reiterated that the 54-year-old former WWE personality could appear on All Elite Wrestling.
However, he clarified that the likelihood of McMahon signing with the Tony Khan-led promotion was not incredibly high, albeit not totally beyond the realm of possibility.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
"It could happen... Oh, absolutely, it could happen... He's got great name identity; he's got people who recognize him. So, hell, I don't know. I would say it's a long shot, less than 50/50, that he would reengage in pro wrestling, but I can't say that it's impossible because it isn't. And he's a good guy, and he still loves the business." Later in the conversation, Ross added that Shane McMahon's move to AEW would depend, among other factors, on whether he wanted to return to the pro wrestling industry.
"It can be done. It just depends on what he wants to do. Does he want to get back in the business or no? Time will tell, as far as that's considered. I'm not advocating it happening, yay or nay, but to say that it's impossible, it would not be true. It is silly." [2:34 - 2:51]
JR's comments are pertinent after reports emerged recently claiming that Shane McMahon is not under any contract with WWE and that his involvement in the WWE 2K24 video game was part of a separate agreement.
Ex-WWE figure Matt Camp's idea for Shane McMahon on AEW TV
Former WWE host Matt Camp recently speculated on a possible angle to introduce Shane McMahon to All Elite Wrestling television. On a recent episode of The Wrestling Matt podcast, Camp suggested a storyline wherein The Young Bucks sell their shares of the company over to Shane, thus granting him significant decision-making power and integrating him into the ongoing storyline war between All Elite Wrestling and The Elite.
It remains to be seen whether Shane McMahon will make history and become a part of AEW.
