Earlier this year, it was reported that Shelton Benjamin might join Tony Khan's roster very soon. Fans were excited upon hearing the news. However, a major star in AEW didn't want the former WWE star to join the company.
The star who was against The Gold Standard becoming All Elite was Max Caster. In an interview, the latter clarified that he doesn't want Shelton in AEW because he doesn't want him to steal his spotlight.
Shelton Benjamin recently commented on The Acclaimed member being against him joining AEW. He appeared for an interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, where he snubbed him in a joking manner.
He said, "[Laughs] I guess my first thought was, who is this? I'm like, I really don't know him. I have nothing against him, as far as I know I've never met him. I was more shocked that he would say something like that. And again, I don't know him, I don't have a relationship with him." [H/T Chris Van Vleit]
Shelton Benjamin thinks Billy Gunn is the greatest athlete ever
Earlier in May, Shelton Benjamin had an interview with Simon Miller of WhatCulture. During the interview, he heaped praises on Billy Gunn and stated that the WWE Hall of Famer is the greatest athlete ever.
He stated, "Every time people say that it’s flattering because I look at all the greats that have come down. Great athletes like Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat and Macho Man [Randy Savage]. To me, I think the greatest athlete to ever enter pro wrestling is Billy Gunn. Billy Gunn (...) have you seen him? To this day, he can out-bump anyone and out-work anyone."
The former member of D-Generation X has been in the wrestling world since the 90s. He has worked under other top wrestling promotions like WWE and NJPW.
