AEW currently employs a number of renowned former WWE Superstars. One of the foremost among them, Adam Copeland, has teased tapping into his dark side to take on a top heel faction of the Tony Khan-led promotion.
The Rated-R Superstar returned from injury at Worlds End 2024 alongside FTR to confront Jon Moxley after the latter retained his AEW World Championship in a four-way match against Orange Cassidy, Jay White, and Hangman Page. Copeland has since made it clear that he and his friends have their eyes on the gold held by The Death Riders.
Moxley, alongside Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta, will take on Rated-FTR in trios action on Dynamite: Fight for the Fallen. The One True King of AEW sent a warning to the WWE Hall of Famer in a backstage promo after Worlds End to which Copeland responded on the Wednesday-night flagship show, emanating from Asheville, NC.
The former WWE Champion implied that Moxley was afraid of him, due to his own notable penchant for in-ring violence. Copeland, of course, has a history of thriving in brutal, hardcore matches, such as his legendary TLC performances, his WrestleMania 22 war with Mick Foley, and more recently, his Barbed Wire Steel Cage TNT Title match at AEW Double or Nothing last year, where he channeled his former Brood persona.
"Moxley, at Worlds End, I saw something I've never seen in your eyes before. I saw fear. And it's because deep down inside, you know, I'm just as sick, no, I'm sicker than you. This is gonna be fun!" said Adam Copeland.
It remains to be seen if The Ultimate Opportunist can match up to The Purveyor of Violence in their potentially imminent clash.
