A soon-to-be free agent in pro wrestling recently talked about potentially signing with either WWE or AEW and facing top names like Gunther and Adam Copeland (fka Edge). The talent in question, Josh Alexander, is currently signed to TNA.
Fans and industry veterans alike consider The Walking Weapon one of the best professional wrestlers currently active in the world. The Canadian star recently disclosed that his current contract with TNA will expire in February next year and that he will be a free agent after that.
During a recent conversation on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Josh Alexander discussed his future prospects. He claimed to be an avid wrestling viewer who watches both WWE and AEW shows with his kids.
The 37-year-old star also revealed that he was intrigued by the possibility of reuniting with former tag partner Ethan Page on NXT and squaring off with main roster talents Pete Dunn and World Heavyweight Champion Gunther.
Charlotte Flair to return and wrestle a CURRENT CHAMPION?
“I’m looking at everywhere right now, like. Both my sons are wrestling nuts, especially my six-year-old. So, Monday is RAW, Tuesday is NXT, Wednesday is Dynamite, Thursday is Impact... I’m watching the product, looking at NXT being like, man me and Ethan could tag up and we can face that tag team, that’d be awesome. I’d really love to have a match with Pete Dunne or Gunther, the list goes on," said Alexander.
However, Alexander also expressed his desire to take on Will Ospreay and Konosuke Takeshita on All Elite programming. He also said WWE Hall of Famer and former TNT Champion Adam Copeland is a "bucket list" opponent.
“Then you watch Dynamite, and I’m just like, man, I’ve torn it up with Will and Takeshita in the past, I would sure love to do that on a bigger stage. And one bucket list thing I might have, a wrestler that’s still out there wrestling that I would really love to get a chance to wrestle, is Edge. He’s in AEW, you know what I mean?" Josh Alexander's recent encounters with AEW talent
Josh Alexander had two impressive showings against top All Elite star Will Ospreay since 2023. After losing to The Aerial Assassin in October last year, The Ronin evened the score by defeating him on IMPACT in January 2024.
On the other hand, Alexander had previously wrestled Konosuke Takeshita to a draw in 2022 in New Jersey. More recently, however, The Alpha retained his AEW International Championship against Josh at MLP Forged in Excellence in October 2024.
