Sting retired from the ring last year at AEW Revolution. He recently filed an interesting trademark.

Stinger is one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. He gained popularity in WCW, where he was one of the top stars. Following WCW's sale to WWE, The Icon continued his successful career in TNA Wrestling, winning multiple world titles. The Icon had one of his best runs in AEW, where he was undefeated until his retirement last year at Revolution. Since then, he has been away from the ring.

The Icon did return at AEW All In to save his former tag team partner Darby Allin from being set on fire by Jack Perry and The Elite. The WWE Hall of Famer is currently signed to AEW under a multi-year legends deal. But he doesn't have to participate in matches as part of the agreement.

Recently, The Icon filed a trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) under his real name, Steve Borden, for the term "Old Man Sting". The application was filed on January 7 and described the term as follows:

Darby Allin commented on Sting's in-ring return

Darby Allin shared a close bond with Stinger during their time together in AEW. Allin was by The Icon's side for most of his run in the promotion. They even held the AEW World Tag Team Championship before the wrestling legend retired. Although it's only been a year since his retirement, there has already been speculation about his return.

During a recent interview with Fightful, Darby Allin said he wasn't sure when the veteran would return but he hoped for it to happen since he liked spending time with his former tag team partner.

"You know what they say, the thing about Sting is nothing is for sure. So who knows? Who knows? Who knows? Just from a selfish standpoint, I'd like to have him around more just because I like spending time with him. I know he's loving life right now and he's in his own little world," he said. It remains to be seen whether The Icon will return to TV for a storyline in the future.
