AEW star Swerve Strickland recently took to social media and posted about an unforgettable moment after one year. One year ago Strickland battled Hangman Page in a Texas Death Match in what turned out to be a controversial rivalry.
Swerve Strickland and Hangman Page have been influential figures in AEW's progress since last year. They started their rivalry at WrestleDream pay-per-view. This match created much-needed buzz for their rivalry but the next couple of weeks elevated the feud to the next level.
Ahead of their Full Gear bout, Strickland broke into Hangman's house to make a statement. A very enraged Cowboy put on a display of violence during the Texas Death Match. This match also had an infamous moment where Hangman drank the Realest star's blood and spit it.
Today marks one year since their match. The former AEW World Champion posted a bunch of pictures of the contest. Within one year, they faced each other multiple times.
"1 year...." he wrote.

Swerve Strickland answered criticisms after the brutal match
The two former AEW World Champions had a violent match at Full Gear 2023. They exceeded all limits of brutality, which is what the story required then.
While speaking with TMZ Sports, Swerve Strickland explained that the contest helped grab many eyes. Also, he stated that the match signifies what AEW represents.
"Whoever has anything to complain about it, feel free. Complain, I implore you. It's not a good thing to do. I don't implore anybody to do anything like that. But the fact that it was done, it makes people [go], 'I don't believe you. I gotta go see this for myself. We pushed boundaries. That's what AEW was built on," he said.
It will be interesting to see if they collide again in the future.
