AEW star Swerve Strickland is set to challenge for the AEW World Title at this week's AEW Dynasty PPV and Strickland's close friend Brian Cage has teased about potentially challenging Swerve.
Samoa Joe will be defending his AEW World Championship against Swerve Strickland, who's got the fans behind him and could potentially dethrone Joe to become world champion. Swerve is currently the leader of The Mogul Embassy and his faction ally Brian Cage recently made some interesting comments about possibly going one-on-one against Swerve if he walks out as champion.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Bill Apter of Sportskeeda Wrestling, Brian Cage spoke about the champions he could challenge in AEW.
"I mean, like I guess politically right, then I should be like, let me have a TNT Title shot or the International Title to kind of spread the gold around. I could go against Roddy or Adam Copeland for sure, but you know, Swerve and I have had some amazing matches. If you wanted a little friendly in-house competition, no pun intended, we could do that." Swerve Strickland reveals what CM Punk told him after he signed with AEW
Swerve Strickland arrived in the Jacksonville-based promotion in 2022 and has quickly transitioned into a main event star. He is a former AEW World Tag Team Champion and currently has his sights set on winning the AEW World Title from Samoa Joe at this Sunday's Dynasty PPV.
Speaking on the Bootleg with Kev podcast, The Mogul Embassy Leader disclosed his conversation with CM Punk after he signed with All Elite Wrestling.
“I was his last TV match. You know, like, uh, yeah. That was the last TV match in the all star tag match, uh, multi man in, uh, Collision. I had great experiences with him. I didn't interact with him a lot. But I always had good positive interactions. On my first day there, like I was taking my photos, my renders, and he jumped in and photobombed it. And I never even spoke to him. I never had an introduction to him, but that was his first interaction to me. And I was like, 'Oh man, this is cool. That's dope.' And he like, and I went out, did my contract signing. And he was like, how'd it go, man? I was like, ‘Oh dude, it went excellent. Thank you.' So like, he's always been like a positive, like influence in me.” [8:00 - 8:35]
CM Punk is often remembered for his backstage issues in All Elite Wrestling. However, the veteran also made some great relationships with the likes of Swerve Strickland, Danhausen, FTR, House of Black, and more.
