An AEW star’s title dream came to an end at the hands of a member of The Elite, Kazuchika Okada, on Collision: Grand Slam. It was a great match nonetheless.
Sammy Guevara was on the end of a loss at the hands of Kazuchika Okada in a Continental Championship Eliminator Match. The match started off well, with the two stars taking calculated shots at each other.
Guevara dropped Okada to the floor outside the ring, but the Japanese star quelled him as he hit him with a cutter. There was a good back-and-forth between the AEW Continental Champion and the challenger, and no one stood out in particular until this point.

The match then spilled outside the ring as Kazuchika Okada picked up Guevara and dropped him on the stairs, prompting the referee to check on the latter. Okada then connected with a dropkick, which saw Guevara drop to the mat.
The AEW Continental Champion then went for a rainmaker, but that was countered with a Spanish Fly. The one-half of the ROH World Tag Team Champion then hit Okada to finish the match, but that was not sufficient. The latter hit back with a rainmaker to get the win and retain his title. This result means that Sammy Guevara won't get a shot at Okada’s title anytime soon.
