Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP) is the manager of The Hurt Syndicate, a faction that has taken AEW by storm. Apart from him, this group consists of former WWE Intercontinental Champion Shelton Benjamin and former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley.
MVP has been in the wrestling industry for more than two decades. He has made numerous close friends throughout his career. One among them was former NWA World Heavyweight Champion Jax Dane. Sadly, Dane passed away a few days ago due to complications from a heart attack. At the time of his death, he was only 48 years old.
Porter recently paid a touching tribute to his deceased friend on Instagram. In his statement, he wrote that the professional wrestling business had many terrible people. However, Dane was not one of them:
"Jeremy "Jax Dane" Laymon has died. The professional wrestling business is full of trash humans. Jax was not one. He was a stand up guy. A genuinely good person. Hard when necessary. Empathetic always. A proud family man. I'll miss our steak dinners. Our wings and beer. Our genuinely uplifting and thought provoking conversations. My heart feels for his family and loved ones. Rest in Power GODZILLA. I will raise a glass in your name tonight! Another good one gone WAY too soon!!!" he wrote.
Jax Dane also made appearances on TNA Wrestling, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and Ring of Honor.
MVP reveals that to join The Hurt Syndicate a wrestler has to be coachable
A few weeks back, The Hurt Syndicate was interviewed by Renee Paquette for AEW Close-Up. During the conversation, MVP revealed that the main criteria for a wrestler to join their faction is for them to be coachable:
"Well number one is coachability. They have to be coachable. Number two, they have to have swag, swagger, a sense of style and fashion because we are hashtag fashionably violent ... you can't have a nice pair of jeans," said MVP.
In the coming months, there is a huge possibility that The Hurt Syndicate will grow in numbers.
