The Young Bucks were expecting to walk into Wrestle Dynasty 2025 to wrestle a standard tag bout for the IWGP Tag Team Titles. However, the addition of another duo to the matchup drew a characteristic response from the AEW EVPs.
Matthew and Nicholas Jackson decided not to drop in at the press conference for the cross-promotional pay-per-view, instead sending a video message to Great-O-Khan, daring him to select anyone he wishes as his partner to face them for the vacated IWGP Tag Team Championship. The Bucks' mission to recapture the belts, however, now has an added obstacle in its way, by way of LIJ.
At Wrestle Kingdom 19 on January 4, Los Ingobernables de Japon allies Tetsuya Naito and Hiromu Takahashi went one-on-one in a much-anticipated singles match, with the 42 year-old veteran emerging as the winner. During their media appearance after the bout, the duo was approached by Great-O-Khan, who revealed Jeff Cobb to be his chosen tag team partner to face The Young Bucks for the vacant Tag Titles at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5.
The United Empire members offered their LIJ rivals to join the fray at the PPV, which is now officially a three-way for the prestigious belts. The Jackson Brothers were quick to reveal their frustration with this development on X/Twitter.

The Young Bucks explain their absence at AEW Worlds End
All Elite Wrestling closed out an overall successful 2024 with their final event of the year, Worlds End. The pay-per-view featured the blockbuster return of Kenny Omega, who had not appeared on All Elite television since being put in the hospital by The Young Bucks and their New Elite stable-mates several months prior.
The Bucks explained their absence at the December 28 show during their recent interview with Tunnel Talk, revealing that they had elected instead to spend the holidays with their family and friends.
“We’ve spent so many years just missing so many things, especially the build up to the holidays with the decorating and the shopping, so it’s been fun to actually be so involved in that stuff again... Unfortunately, we’ve had to miss a few AEW shows because of it but it’s been great. We are at that point in our career too where it’s like, ‘they can have a couple of shows without us.’” [H/T - Wrestletalk]
It remains to be seen how Matthew and Nicholas Jackson will fare in their imminent Tokyo Dome comeback.
