The Young Bucks have been absent from AEW since they lost their World Tag Team Titles to Private Party. Matthew and Nicholas Jackson left hurriedly after their loss stating that it had become too chaotic for them and they would be working from home.
Matt Jackson recently revealed their major 'retirement' plan. During an interview with Social Suplex Podcast Network's Tunnel Talk, he stated that he had plans to retire The Young Bucks' popular Superkick. But Nick Jackson asked him why he would want to retire one of their most popular moves.
“I even wanted to lean more into the EVP stuff. Like, I told Nick, ‘I don’t want to do a Superkick ever again,’ and he fought me on that—and he won the fight. I was like, ‘When we come back, I never want to do one ever again,’ and he’s just like, ‘That’s our thing. Why would we stop doing it,'” Matt Jackson said. [H/T: Ringsidenews]

Scrapped plans for The Young Bucks due to WWE
During the interview with Tunnel Talk, The Young Bucks revealed that they had an idea to introduce a new angle into their storyline.
They didn't want to lose their World Tag Team Championship to Private Party but instead set up a spinning wheel challenge to determine new challengers every week until a particular tag team squashed them in seconds to win the gold:
"Originally, I wanted it to finally land on—well, I don’t even know if I should give that away, because that’s probably something we could do in the future. I wanted it to land on a very specific team. I wanted it to land on a very specific team, and I wanted them to maul us in four seconds. Oh my God, and I thought it would have shocked everyone. That was my big plan, and we would have dropped the titles that way."
However, they found out that WWE had already re-introduced their "Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal" concept in NXT ahead of Halloween Havoc 2024. Therefore, The Young Bucks had to nix their plan.
