A top AEW star recently shared some interesting remarks regarding his WWE debut, drawing a comparison with fellow All Elite peer MJF. The talent in question is none other than Chris Jericho.
Jericho, who has been signed with AEW since 2019, has played a pivotal role in enhancing the credibility of the Jacksonville-based promotion. He became the first-ever World Champion of the company and has consistently enjoyed a prominent spot on its televised programming. The Learning Tree has performed for several notable wrestling promotions throughout the course of his career, including CMLL, WCW, and WWE.
Jericho made his debut in the Stamford-based promotion in 1999, on the August 9 episode of WWE RAW. In his first appearance on the Monday-night flagship show, Y2J interrupted The Rock's promo, firing several shots at the company's product at the time and claiming to have arrived to "save" the promotion.
While re-watching his debut WWE promo on a recent edition of Talk Is Jericho, Chris Jericho commented on its resemblance to promos delivered by his All Elite Wrestling colleague, Maxwell Jacob Friedman. The former Inner Circle leader further suggested that The Salt of the Earth has drawn inspiration from his work and performance.

"There is a lot of MJF in this promo. Not that he is influenced by me, but it's obvious he is [laughs]. I feel like I'm watching a modern-day MJF promo right now," said Jericho. [H/T, Fightful]
Chris Jericho and MJF were involved in a lengthy feud in AEW, stemming from Friedman betraying The Inner Circle and waging war against the faction alongside his stable, The Pinnacle. The two men have also squared off in singles action on three separate occasions, with the reigning AEW American Champion winning two of the matches and Jericho emerging victorious in their third one-on-one bout at All Out 2021.
Chris Jericho will face HOOK at AEW All In 2024
HOOK called out Chris Jericho for a shot at the latter's FTW Title this week on AEW Dynamite. The Ocho refused to face The Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil at the Chartway Arena in Norfolk, Virginia, but agreed to grant him a championship match at All In 2024 on two conditions.
Jericho stipulated that if HOOK loses to him in their upcoming FTW Title bout, he will no longer be able to challenge for the belt. Furthermore, The Lionheart demanded that the 25-year-old up-and-comer square off against Big Bill in singles competition next week. HOOK accepted Jericho's terms, promising to dump The Redwood on his head the following week and vowing to destroy Jericho at Wembley Stadium.
It remains to be seen if HOOK can successfully reclaim the FTW Championship from Chris Jericho at All In 2024.
