Kenny Omega recently hinted at making his return which raised a lot of eyebrows. A WWE legend has come out in support of his decision.
Teddy Long is the latest to comment on Kenny Omega's potential return. The Cleaner is one of the best professional wrestlers in the world. He has been at a different level from his peers for a very long time.
Sadly, his career has come to a halt due to diverticulitis which has kept him out of the ring for a considerable amount of time. Recently, Omega made an appearance at NJPW Power Struggle and informed fans that he wanted to make his return to the company and was interested in competing at AEW X NJPW Wrestle Dynasty next year.
This announcement raised a lot of eyebrows as to why Omega would make his in-ring return in NJPW and not AEW. Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Wrestling Time Machine podcast with host Mac Davis, WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long said that Kenny worked in Japan for a long time and hence he doesn't find anything wrong with him making his in-ring return there.

"Here's the thing too you got to realize too that Kenny Omega he worked in Japan for a long time. So, that's really kind of his thing there so I don't think there's nothing wrong with that. I mean I'd go there and maybe get myself ready and then come back here and then get in the ring." [From 06:03 to 06:22]

Bill Apter on why Kenny Omega wants to make his in-ring return to NJPW
Kenny Omega first gained a lot of traction due to his time in NJPW where he was known as "The Best Bout Machine" for several years. Following his time in Japan, Kenny formed AEW with The Elite and Tony Khan. Since then, he had been a regular feature on AEW TV before taking time off due to diverticulitis. The Cleaner also serves as an Executive Vice President of the company.
This is why many people are a bit surprised that he would return for another promotion instead of his own. Speaking on the same episode of The Wrestling Timemachine, Bill Apter also echoed similar sentiments as Teddy Long when he said that Omega might be returning to NJPW to test out the waters before making his return to AEW.
"To make sure he's feeling good and ready to come back to AEW and look the best he can....try it out out of town. What better out of town than out of the country" [From 05:48 to 05:59]
It will be interesting to see if Omega will recover in time to compete at AEW X NJPW Wrestle Dynasty.
