Bryan Danielson recently claimed that he had received a "legal letter" from WWE and fans are now reacting to this news. Before signing with AEW, Bryan Danielson worked for WWE for several years. While he may not have been treated like one of the company's top stars, he was a fan favorite.
Danielson was the one who came up with the famous "yes" chants which spread into mainstream media and can still be heard among the WWE Universe. Bryan's yes chants are now a part of his gimmick in his current home, AEW.
The American Dragon recently tried to file a trademark for his famous chant but was approached by his former employer. During an interview with Luke James Chats, Bryan stated that WWE sent him a "legal letter", allegedly warning him against filing for the trademark as it would be an infringement.

EC3 says John Cena saw his qualities in Bryan Danielson
Although Bryan Danielson was a multi-time World Champion in WWE, he was never the top star in the company. He always took a back seat to the likes of CM Punk, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns. However, it appears John Cena believed in him.
Speaking on The Wrestling Outlaws podcast, EC3 mentioned that John Cena was looking for the next him and saw his own qualities in Danielson but Vince McMahon did not feel the same way.
"John [Cena] was looking not for the next him but somebody who can handle what is necessary to be the top guy. He was always looking for that and I do believe he saw it in Daniel Bryan not only cuz they kind of almost ended up being brothers-in-law but because John was a really big advocate of like the mob maybe against Vince's [McMahon] best wishes but if they're reacting within these reasons and these emotions, I think John put him over clean at SummerSlam too and that was his idea. So, John Cena himself saw the John Cena qualities in Daniel Bryan whereas Vince McMahon did not." [7:15 - 8:14]
Bryan Danielson's move to AEW worked out for him as he is now the current World Champion.
