Former AEW Women's World Champion Toni Storm has been getting mixed reactions since dropping her Timeless gimmick. WWE veteran Vince Russo has now shared his thoughts on Storm's new character.
Before her surprising return to AEW a couple of weeks ago, the fans saw Toni Storm as Timeless Toni Storm. However, she retired in kayfabe, which resulted in the birth of her amnesia gimmick in the Jacksonville-based promotion. At Worlds End Zero Hour, Toni Storm made her successful PPV 'debut' by defeating Leila Grey.
During the recent edition of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws podcast, Vince Russo pointed out how Toni Storm's new character will eventually go stale. The veteran believes that her Timeless character had a lot more to offer but praises Toni Storm for trying out a different character.
"But timing is always an issue because you know, with the character they're currently doing, eventually the well's going to run dry. Wait till the well runs dry first. I still think she had a lot of legs left in that 'Timeless' Tony Storm character, but I tip my hat to her man for wanting to challenge herself and seeing if she can go out there and pull this off." A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.
EC3 on Toni Storm's new AEW gimmick
In the same video, EC3 also shared his take on Toni Storm's character.
He said that trying out a new gimmick while having a successful character like Timeless Toni Storm could be a great thing as there might be a huge payoff down the road for the former AEW Women's World Champion.
"I love like the great creative approach and just try things like, and I don't know how much it's on her and her suggestion or if it's from creative or whatnot, to be creative sometimes to be fearless and we easily can rest on laurels of what has gotten us to where we are and hang on them for a very long time. Like there's probably a lot left in that. Well, my one thing would be though, sometimes pulling a switch while there's still something in the well may make it become more meaningful down the road. Like not totally drive them. I can still dip a thing. I still get a tag title run with somebody if I keep this up or let's just, let's go." [2:32 - 3:20]
We will have to wait and see if Toni Storm regains the AEW Women's World Championship during her current run.
