A WWE veteran has suggested that Tony Khan should consider laying off multiple AEW talent to bring in The Hurt Business. The individual in question is Matt Morgan.
Recent reports have indicated that The All-Mighty could be on his way out of WWE, and his deal with the promotion will expire soon. His former manager, MVP, is also supposedly not expected back in the promotion, and rumors have been circulating that the duo may revamp their old stable, The Hurt Business, in AEW along with Shelton Benjamin, who is also currently a free agent.
The prospect of Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, and MVP reuniting in AEW was discussed on a recent edition of the Gigantic Pop podcast. Speaking on the subject, former WWE Superstar Matt Morgan argued that AEW's roster was too saturated with talent to allow a stable like The Hurt Business to enjoy adequate screen time.
"You could, but... Here's my problem with that, is AEW's too freaking full as it is. They have too many people, they can't get them on television. Now, would I have them there instead of a lot of these, no offense, these ham and egg sandwiches that they have there, that aren't always on TV and every six months get on TV somehow."

The Blueprint added that several wrestlers employed by the Jacksonville-based promotion had failed to make the most of their TV time, with other competitors like Wardlow and Lance Archer - whom Morgan cited as examples of talent he wanted to see on weekly programming - being underutilized as a result. He then suggested that Tony Khan should go on another set of roster cuts to make space for stars and potential star-makers like Lashley, Benjamin, and MVP.
"I'm talking about like the indie guys that like had their shot when AEW first started, they were on TV a lot, but no offense, they didn't do anything with that opportunity... Tony needs to do another round of cuts to make room for people like this that could be used sparingly to help get over your AEW homegrown talents." [29:05 onwards]
Morgan had a brief, three-year stint in WWE from 2002 to 2005, followed by spells at TNA and independent promotions before retiring.
Matt Morgan does not believe ex-WWE star Ronda Rousey will join AEW
Ronda Rousey wrestled her most recent match in ROH last year, around three months after her WWE exit. The Rowdy One teamed up with Marina Shafir to defeat Billie Starkz and Athena. Rousey's appearance in Ring of Honor prompted speculations regarding her potentially signing with AEW.
However, Matt Morgan voiced his belief that the MMA legend would not return to wrestling unless it was in WWE. On an episode of Gigantic Pop last month, the 47-year-old personality dismissed the possibility of Rousey going to AEW, claiming that she was more likely to continue pursuing her ventures in acting and writing instead.
"I don't think she's going back to wrestling until it's WWE. I think if she goes anywhere, she goes to do some more stuff in Hollywood, acting, maybe her book tour, things like that, if I had to guess. She's not going to AEW, guys, no way, I don't see it." [28:10 - 28:25]
It remains to be seen how active Tony Khan continues to be in his pursuit of free agents moving forward.
