AEW President Tony Khan recently expressed his thoughts on the new WWE ID program. Khan also addressed how it may impact the future signings of his promotion.

The Stamford-based promotion recently announced the WWE ID program, through which they can identify young wrestlers from several independent wrestling schools which are parts of the program. As per the program, a wrestler would have to ask the Stamford-based promotion before signing with other promotions such as AEW and TNA.

Meanwhile, the President of All Elite Wrestling, Tony Khan shared his thoughts on the WWE ID program and how it will impact future AEW signings. During the recent Full Gear Media Call, Khan stated that he would reserve his judgment until he tests the mechanism:

“It will be interesting to see the first time we have a talent that is under one of those (WWE ID deals) that we bring in. I’m not completely sure how those deals are going to work. I’ve heard some stuff about there being matching rights with the people that have signed them, which would be an interesting thing. I have some thoughts on it, but I will reserve my judgment until I actually test such a mechanism. I only know what I’ve read about them, but it’s interesting." [H/T WrestleTalk]

Tony Khan on the importance of identifying young talent

Tony Khan also expressed his thoughts on identifying young talent, possibly referencing the WWE ID program. Khan also stated that AEW has a roster of great young wrestlers as well as experienced ones and he wants to continue building them up:

"I think for us, we have a great roster right now of wrestlers spanning all ages, from very very young wrestlers to decades of experience. And identifying young talent is really important to us, so it’s something to continue looking at. We bring a lot of top young wrestlers into AEW and Ring of Honor, and so far it has not been a major conflict with any of those talents being signed elsewhere and it impeding their ability to work with us, but it’d be interesting to see how that goes in the coming future.” [H/T WrestleTalk]

Moreover, only time will tell how things will work out when AEW tries to bring in a WWE ID talent for their promotion.
