It has recently been reported that Tony Khan and AEW have no plans to use a certain top star for the remainder of their contract. Fans have reacted to this, with many expressing their frustration over the situation.

The Lucha Brothers—Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix—have been said to be on their way out of the company. However, this did not come instantly, as injury time was added to the latter's contract. While Penta's deal is set to come to an end as soon as the start of December, the same cannot be said about Rey Fenix.

It was reported that Fenix's deal with AEW will run into 2025. Another report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter mentioned that, despite the company having no plans to let him out of his contract, there are also no plans to use him for the remainder of his time with the company.

Fans were irate with this, as they felt that it would have been better just to let go of the Lucha Brothers than let them stay like this. One fan also mentioned the multitude of stars in similar situations, including Miro and Ricky Starks.

"Ricky Starks, Malakai Black, Miro now Rey Fenix man Tony Khan gotta grow up," one claimed.
"LET HIM GO AEW & TONY KHAN," said another.
"#FreeFenix," another posted.

Other fans felt that this was hypocritical of Khan, considering how he was now utilizing a business practice most often linked to WWE's previous regime.

"I thought AEW was gonna be an alternative of WWE," one wondered.
"I was told only Vince McMahon did such things," another mentioned.
"Wow! I thought Tony wanted to be a good boss and not do what “they” did. What a hypocrite! Poor Rey," another claimed.

Penta El Zero Miedo could be headed straight to WWE after his AEW deal expires

Previously, it seemed that both the Lucha Brothers wished to depart the Jacksonville-based promotion and join WWE at the same time, but this may not be the case due to the injury time on Rey Fenix's deal.

On a recent edition of Wrestlevotes Radio on Backstage Pass, JoeyVotes mentioned how, with Fenix possibly needing to stay with the promotion for as long as half a year, Penta may instead head to WWE first once his contract expires. He could pursue a singles run in the meantime until his brother's deal comes to an end.

It is unclear whether a better resolution will take place regarding the Lucha Brothers. But if they head to WWE when cleared, fans may have to wait a while for their tag team debut to take place.
