FTR has been one of the top teams in the tag team divisions of AEW. They are former two-time AEW World Tag Team Champions. Having accomplished so much in AEW and other wrestling promotions, Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood requested Tony Khan to give a big opportunity to another tag team which the AEW head willingly granted.
Speaking in an interview with WrestleZone, Hardwood revealed that FTR was supposed to be one of the participants of the four-way tag team match for the World Tag Team Championship at AEW Full Gear 2024. But they asked Tony Khan to replace them with The Outrunners in the bout:
“I was telling you there are some people online who like to say that we latch on right? One of the things, people said, we latched onto The Outrunners because of their popularity. I would beg anybody to ask The Outrunners what they thought of us and how they thought of us as far as helping them out. Because never once… there’s a lot that happens behind the scenes, and you know what? I’ll say it. For example, at the last pay-per-view, the four-way Tag Team Title match, FTR was supposed to be in one of those spots. I went to Tony and said, ‘Hey man, these guys have worked their a** off. They deserve that spot. Take us out and put them in.’ And he did. He agreed with me.” [From 15:58 to 16:56]

FTR's Dax Harwood addresses a major accusation related to CM Punk and Randy Orton
FTR has teamed up with top wrestlers CM Punk and Randy Orton in the past. This has often made them a subject of criticism, where fans accuse them of latching onto popular stars for fame and stardom. Speaking with WrestleZone, Harwood clarified that others always offered to team up with them and not the other way around:
"We’ve been part of a lot of groups, and it’s funny—I was actually thinking about this today. The funny part is, we get a lot of flak online, saying we latch onto others, but here’s the crazy part: even going back to FTRKO, do you think it was Cash and myself who went to Vince [McMahon] and said, ‘Hey, put us with Randy'? Or was it Randy who said, ‘I’d like to work with these guys’? Same thing with Punk—CMFTR...."
Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood are currently teaming up with Adam Copeland to take down Jon Moxley and The Death Riders.
