A 62-year-old WWE veteran almost became a part of AEW before the deal fell through. The name being discussed is Jim Cornette.

Cornette has been in the wrestling business since the 80s. He primarily worked as an agent, booker promoter, and color commentator in the industry. He has been associated with many top wrestling promotions like WCW, WWE, ROH, NWA, and more. The 62-year-old WWE veteran has always been very critical of AEW. Many fans believe that it is so because Tony Khan never hired him in his company.

On his Jim Cornette Experience podcast, the veteran clarified that he had received an offer from the AEW President and also had signed an NDA agreement with the promotion in 2018. Unfortunately, the deal fell through, which is why the fans never saw him in AEW.

"If people say. 'oh Cornette just wants AEW to fail and go out of business because he didn't like him and they didn't give him a job.' I wonder [if] I need to talk to Stephen P. New [lawyer]. I know that you cannot disclose what is told to you when you're under an NDA. But since the NDA has been disclosed, could I sell copies of the NDA I signed with Tony Khan in 2018? Like for charity? Because it doesn't contain any of the things that he told me. It just contains language telling me not to tell any of those things we got to check on that." [From 09:58 to 10:33]

Jim Cornette advised former AEW Women's Champion Riho to retire from pro wrestling

Speaking on the Jim Cornette Experience, the veteran discussed Riho getting injured again. While he wished her a speedy recovery, Cornette also advised Riho to retire from the ring and get a job that doesn't require risking her body.

"Poor Riho. Hopefully, she gets well and goes home and gets a job as a clerk or accountant or anything you do that doesn't require diving off s*it," he said.

Riho had just returned from an injury on June 29 on Collision. Her first match back was against Lady Frost. During the bout, she fractured her arm and was forced to go on a hiatus again.
