AEW President Tony Khan recently met with Shane McMahon, leading to speculation on the future of his company, including chances of it changing ownership. According to WWE veteran Vince Russo, the company all but needs to be sold at this point.
While AEW had a surprisingly great start as a new wrestling brand, its numbers have been dipping over the last few years. The frequent controversies backstage do not help the case, as even CM Punk has been more than vocal about the shortcomings. Furthermore, the company's ratings and viewership have been declining as well.
Speaking on this week's episode of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws hosted by Mac Davis, Vince Russo explained that with AEW seemingly depreciating, selling it to the McMahons is the right choice after the meeting.

The WWE veteran thinks Tony Khan would be absurd not to sell AEW
According to Vince Russo, selling the Jacksonville-based promotion is a no-brainer at this point.
Adding to his comments on The Wrestling Outlaws, Russo explained that changing ownership of the company would lead to Tony Khan making an overall profit despite the company being on a downward slope.
"I can sell this to the McMahons and make more money than I invested and I lost and I can go back to my father and say, 'Hey man look, after five years we have (profited).' This is such a perfect out for him, that if there is any reality to this and he (Tony Khan) doesn't take it, he is out of his mind." [11:24 onwards]
