A veteran believes that Tony Khan could sell AEW to Shane and Vince McMahon. Additionally, he believes that Khan stood to make a profit on the sale should it happen.
Vince Russo is the latest to comment on the Shane McMahon and AEW saga, after it was reported that he had a secret meeting with Tony Khan at Arlington Airport on July 29, 2024. A photograph from the meeting went viral on social media, grabbing everybody's attention. While people are busy speculating about Shane-O-Mac joining AEW, one wrestling veteran has a starkly different narrative.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, the former WWE head writer, Vince Russo suggested that since Tony Khan has yet to finalize a TV deal, there is a possibility that he might sell the company to the McMahons. Moreover, he also believes that Khan could sell this "failing business" for a huge profit and turn out a winner in the process.
"Now Tony is in a conundrum. 'Holy c**p! We may not have a TV partner. What am I gonna tell the old man? What am I gonna tell my dad? My dad has put millions and millions and millions and millions and millions of dollars behind this. What am I gonna tell my dad.' Enter the McMahons. Bro, if Tony can take this failing business of five years and sell it to the McMahons at a profit, he is a winner. Now, he can go back to Shahid and say, 'Dad, look man I started this company five years ago. This is what it's cost us. This is what we just sold it for,'" stated Russo. [21:30 - 22:32]

Tommy Dreamer cautions fans not to get their hopes up about Shane McMahon and Tony Khan meeting
The possibility of Shane McMahon joining AEW has gotten the fans excited as the former WWE star could be a valuable asset to the Jacksonville-based company and help in global expansion. However, a wrestling legend just cautioned fans about the meeting between Shane and Tony Khan.
Speaking on the Busted Open Radio podcast, Tommy Dreamer reminded fans that it was just a meeting and nothing was set in stone yet. He also mentioned that he has been part of several meetings which went nowhere.
"Do I think they were having lunch together? Possibly lunch. There's lunch meetings, breakfast meetings, dinner meetings, just meetings, just getting to know you. I've had meetings with people and it went absolutely nowhere, 'Hey, thank you.' You also don't know what it could be about," said Dreamer. [From 04:45 to 05:04]
