At this point, Adam Cole had been out of action for quite a while due to an injury. His entire career has been marred by injuries at different times, often halting any push for him. His storyline with MJF in AEW was one of the most successful ones, and it appears that this will be continued after WrestleDream 2024.
Adam Cole came out to confront The Salt of the Earth as the latter was putting a beatdown on Daniel Garcia. His return prompted MJF to beat a hasty retreat, leaving Daniel in the ring.

He would have Reigns’ stablemates excommunicate him, laying the foundation for a gimmick change for the former.
