AEW President Tony Khan possibly corralled one of his top stars due to his indiscipline, according to a former WCW veteran. The star was recently suspended as well.
The AEW star in question is the former TNT Champion, Sammy Guevara. Sammy was considered one of the pillars of Tony Khan's promotion since its inception. However, his indiscipline cost him. He was suspended in February after allegedly breaching concussion protocol in his match against Jeff Hardy.
Meanwhile, the former WCW veteran in question, Konnan, was asked about Sammy's relationship with his boss, Tony Khan. Speaking on his K100 podcast, Konnan said:

"I think it's like anything usually when you like somebody a lot they can do no wrong, and then when you don't they can do no right. Maybe he [Tony] gave him a lot of leeway, because you know Sammy's always smiling and a kinda easy-go-lucky guy."
Konnan also assumed that Khan had to "corral", or control Guevara after his multiple disciplinary issues:
"You know, he goes out there and he has charisma and maybe Tony took a liking to him and said, 'This is going to be my next star.' Until finally they were like, 'Bro you need to corral this guy or he's not going to stop,' and then he finally did is what I'm assuming." [1:48-2:22]
Veteran on AEW star having heat in Tony Khan's promotion
The former WCW veteran, Konnan, was also asked whether the AEW star, Sammy Guevara, had heat from Tony Khan's promotion after he refused to compete in CMLL due to his preference for AAA. Konnan stated:
"I don't know, I don't even know how that story got out, because he privately told me he wanted to come to AAA and he had heat because he had the tag team championships with his wife, and he no-showed three TVs. And I was like, 'Bro you got mega heat here right now,' and I go, 'You gotta let it calm down.'"
Konnan further speculated:
"I don't know if maybe he told Tony, 'Hey you know, I don't want to work with CMLL, I'd rather work for AAA,' and he got heat. But I don't think he'd tell him that, you know he'd be that dumb to... you know, as much as a fan Tony is of CMLL why would you that? So I don't even know how that got out yeah." [0:41-1:20]
