Tony Khan suddenly announces first-time-ever dream match for Christian Cage against top AEW star out for revenge

AEW CEO Tony Khan is known for making blockbuster matchups on the promotion's television programs. After a successful WrestleDream PPV, the CEO has announced a first-time-ever bout between Jay White and Christian Cage for this week's Dynamite.

During the Owen Hart Foundation tournament, Bullet Club Gold's Jay White was focused on winning it all. However, Christian Cage cost him the match, thus preventing White from advancing in the tournament. The Switchblade is coming off a huge victory over Hangman Adam Page at WrestleDream.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Tony Khan made the first-ever singles match between Christian Cage and Jay White official for the October 16th edition of Dynamite:

"@JayWhiteNZ vs @Christian4Peeps After a monumental win vs Hangman at WrestleDream, Jay White aims for revenge on the 2nd man who cost him the #OwenHartTournament, Christian Cage, on TBS this Wednesday!"

Tony Khan calls Christian Cage the MVP of AEW

Christian Cage signed with All Elite Wrestling in 2021 and the veteran quickly became one of the biggest stars of the promotion. He currently leads The Patriarchy which consists of Nick Wayne, Shayna Wayne, and Killswitch (Luchasaurus).

Earlier this year, on a Double or Nothing media call, Tony Khan called Christian Cage one of the best signings of All Elite Wrestling. He claimed that he's doing the best work of his career in the Jacksonville-based promotion:

"Christian Cage, who has been, in my opinion, an MVP of AEW television over the past year. What Christian Cage has done for the company is unbelievable. I absolutely believed that was what we were gonna get when we signed him, and I think it’s been proven right. I think Christian Cage is one of the best signings we’ve ever made in AEW. Christian Cage has won the TNT and World Trios Championship in All Elite Wrestling. It will be interesting to see if he wins the World Title from Jon Moxley in the future.
