AEW has managed to build several major stars throughout its first five years, but perhaps none have reached the heights of MJF. The 28-year-old recently opened up about his "Bidding War of 2024" and why All Elite Wrestling's locker room hates him.

As a heel, MJF often touted the Bidding War of 2024 in the lead-up to his contract allegedly expiring this year. Despite many believing he had secretly re-signed in 2022, the Jacksonville-based promotion removed Friedman from its roster early this year, and his future seemed up in the air until he returned at Double or Nothing in May.

MJF has made it clear that he's sticking with All Elite Wrestling. In a recent interview with WrestleTalk, he addressed the Bidding War of 2024:

"I won. I’m f**king rich as s**t. It’s f**king crazy, dude. I literally… you don’t f**king understand… I have so much money. It’s hilarious. The whole locker room f**king hates me because they all know how much I’m making, and they… it’s peanuts in comparison. And I’m only 28. So you’ve got guys walking around in their 40s that have given their body to this industry; they’re like dying practically, and they aren’t even making a fraction of what I make."

Max further revealed that when Tony Khan showed him the astronomical offer, he signed quickly. As for whether he'd had conversations with WWE, The Wolf of Wrestling refused to share the details:

"I can’t answer that [if he had talks with WWE] for legal reasons, because if I did have conversations with WWE, that would be considered what? [contract tampering.]" [H/T WrestleTalk]

MJF would have faced CM Punk in AEW again under one condition

Some were disappointed that MJF decided to re-sign with AEW, especially after CM Punk had returned to WWE. The Wolf of Wrestling and The Straight Edge Superstar shared an acclaimed rivalry in the Jacksonville-based promotion back in 2022.

After their brutal Dog Collar Match at that year's Revolution pay-per-view, it was clear that the two could return to the feud whenever they wished, but it never happened.

In the same interview with WrestleTalk, the American Champion revealed that he would have faced Punk again only if the latter was AEW World Champion:

"I would have won if we wrestled again. I think everybody knows that. I’m a very smart individual, I’ve actually mentioned this in regards to Swerve as history repeats itself, I’m a man that… I like to pick my spots. It’s very obvious that I could have beaten him again as I had already beaten him twice in Chicago. But why would I beat him when there was no World Title on the line?"

MJF is set to defend his AEW American Championship against Will Ospreay at All In 2024. Whether the 28-year-old can hang onto his title remains to be seen.
