A massive AEW star returned to Dynamite: Grand Slam to face a huge challenge. The star being discussed is Bryan Danielson. Nigel McGuinness called The American Dragon out for weeks, but he didn't return to confront the AEW commentator for a long time. He was sidelined after Jon Moxley suffocated him with a plastic bag at All Out pay-per-view.
Nigel has a huge history with Bryan Danielson during their ROH days. The 48-year-old star constantly called out the latter from the commentary desk. While many believed McGuinness wouldn't wrestle, he came out of retirement at All In at Wembley Stadium and participated in the Casino Gauntlet match.
Nigel McGuinness also saw the perfect opportunity to go after Bryan. While Jon Moxley cleverly convinced Darby Allin to face him, the commentator immediately challenged the world champion, believing the latter wouldn't be a hundred percent until the Grand Slam. While Bryan was absent from the company, McGuinness called him out on Dynamite, Collision, and social media.
At Dynamite: Grand Slam, Bryan Danielson finally returned to the company and faced his arch-nemesis. After a hard-hitting contest, Nigel tapped out to the LeBell Lock.
It will be interesting to see who will become the number one contender for the AEW World Championship between Jon Moxley and Darby Allin.
