John Cena returned to WWE earlier this year and announced that he will retire from in-ring competition in 2025. The 16-time World Champion will begin his Farwell Tour in a few days. However, former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho recently revealed that he does not have similar retirement plans.

Chris Jericho became the inaugural AEW World Champion in 2019 and is one of the most consistent performers in professional wrestling today. He is also the current ROH World Champion. However, given his age, many fans criticize him and claim that he should retire from in-ring competition. Jericho turned the heat he received from the fans into his recent Learning Tree gimmick, which has gotten some positive reactions.

In a recent interview on Z100 New York, Chris Jericho claimed that he has never wrestled for money. He further spoke about potentially retiring from in-ring competition and stated that he currently has no plans to step away or do a retirement tour.

"It is, but I’ve never done anything for money. Honestly, never have. When I was 19, I was wrestling, not for money, because there was no money to be made. I was putting 55 cents of gas in my car because that’s all I had. If you do stuff that you love, the money always follows. If you do something for money, it usually never works out the way you want it to. To me, I’ll know when it’s time, and we’ll go from there. For right now, I’m still enjoying this at the highest of levels that you can enjoy something. People are like, 'You still enjoy it?' If I didn’t enjoy it, I wouldn’t do it. There is no way I would do it at this point in time." [H/T: Fightful]

John Cena will be retiring from WWE in 2025

John Cena is one of the biggest stars in professional wrestling. He shocked fans earlier this year at the Money in the Bank Premium Live Event, where he announced his retirement tour, which will kick off in 2025.

The Franchise Player confirmed that he will also retire his signature in-ring gear after 2025. Many former rivals of Cena, including CM Punk, Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and others, could potentially face him next year.

It will be interesting to see how Triple H books John Cena in his last year as an active performer.
