Shane McMahon's meeting with Tony Khan stole headlines earlier this month, and several within the wrestling world are giving their opinions on the former WWE star potentially joining AEW. Current American Champion MJF has revealed that he has no respect for either McMahon or Khan.
Shane McMahon's interest in All Elite Wrestling became apparent when he was spotted speaking with Mercedes Mone at an airport on July 1. Tony Khan has revealed that his initial meeting with Vince McMahon's son was just to get to know him, and the two discussed their shared interest in the wrestling industry.
Maxwell Jacob Friedman has embraced villainy once again as the reigning American Champion. In a recent interview with Cultaholic's Jack King, The Wolf of Wrestling was asked what he thinks of Shane, and in classic form, the AEW star proceeded to trash both his boss and the former WWE Superstar:
"He's a f*cking mark," said Friedman. "I mean, yeah. That was my reaction. I don't respect either of them. I respect the fact that I am the highest-paid athlete in my company. Rightfully so. Outside of that and the money stuff, I don't know, man."
MJF also made sure to point out that Tony Khan has improbably large biceps, giving credit to the All Elite Chief for working out.
AEW's MJF is open to facing Shane McMahon in the ring
Maxwell Jacob Friedman has been known to boast about not wrestling often, but he's currently on a world tour in defense of his American Championship. He even wrestled for nearly an hour against Will Ospreay at AEW Dynamite's 250th episode last month.
MJF's confidence is at an all-time high, and he believes he would embarrass Shane McMahon if the two were to share the screen—both in the ring and on the mic. In the same interview, The Wolf of Wrestling claimed that he would be open to facing McMahon but admitted that he would feel bad about it:
"I think it would be bad for Shane McMahon's mental health to get in a ring with me, on a microphone or bell to bell. So my answer is yes because I would have the time of my f*cking life. But my answer, also just because I'm so salt of the earth, is I think for the first time in my career I'd feel bad," he said.
For now, MJF is focused on Will Ospreay, against whom he will attempt to defend his American title at AEW All In later this month. Whether the 28-year-old can hold onto his title in The Aerial Assassin's home country of England remains to be seen.
