The top two AEW stars got involved in a physical altercation backstage, and both were removed from the arena. The incident took place right before the start of the WrestleDream pay-per-view.
The AEW stars in the discussion are Kyle O'Reilly and the current Continental Champion, Kazuchika Okada. The two confronted each other backstage during the WrestleDream Zero Hour pre-show. Okada has held the Continental Championship since winning it in March 2024.
During his confrontation with Okada, Kyle O'Reilly asked for a match from The Rainmaker in hopes of a title shot. However, the champ hilariously declined by using his favorite cuss word. O'Reilly shockingly threw hands at Okada, and their confrontation turned into a big brawl backstage, with both taking each other out.
Nonetheless, the interim EVP, Christopher Daniels, showed up to handle the situation and separated the two with the help of security. Daniels also removed both Kyle O'Reilly and Kazuchika Okada from the arena after their physical backstage altercation.
Neither Okada nor O'Reilly was scheduled for a match at the WrestleDream pay-per-view. Only time will tell what's next for both stars.
