AEW has secured the services of several top free agents this year in order to bolster its roster. Even so, securing new contracts for its established stars might be even more important, and the promotion was able to do just that with Swerve Strickland. The former AEW World Champion recently signed a historic deal to keep him with the company for the next several years.

Swerve Strickland joined All Elite Wrestling in 2022. The 34-year-old came in with plenty of hype, but it took a while for him to find his footing on the roster. Ultimately, his peerless work ethic and an acclaimed feud with 'Hangman' Adam Page launched him into the main event scene, where he became one of the faces of the company.

At All In 2024, it was revealed that Strickland had agreed to a massive multi-year extension with the Jacksonville-based promotion. At L.A. Comic Con today, Swerve finally signed the contract. He uploaded a video of the history-making moment to X(fka Twiter):

"HISTORY MADE!!! One of the most lucrative wrestling contracts in the industry FINALIZED right here at the @comicconla," wrote Swerve.

The Hurt Syndicate is trying to poach Swerve Strickland after joining AEW

Swerve Strickland's rise to the top in All Elite Wrestling has been facilitated by his beloved manager, Prince Nana. However, the recent arrival of MVP and his Hurt Syndicate could threaten that relationship.

After making his All Elite debut, MVP immediately made it clear that he was interested in representing Swerve Strickland. He and Shelton Benjamin have been taking shots at Nana over the past week, but Swerve himself doesn't seem too keen on joining the new faction.

The former AEW World Champion recently took to X with an ominous response to MVP's overtures:

"You don't want me to answer that on here.... TTYL," he wrote.

Swerve has been absent from television since losing a brutal Unsanctioned Lights Out Cage Match against Hangman Page at All Out 2024. He's currently training for a return while pursuing outside projects, but it seems that tension is building in his absence.
