Top star finally addresses backstage fight with Kenny Omega outside AEW - "If you disrespect me like that"

Top NJPW star Gabe Kidd has opened up about his backstage fight with AEW star Kenny Omega. The Cleaner has been out of action since December 2023.

At NJPW Power Struggle, former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega appeared and hinted at a potential return to the squared circle at Wrestle Dynasty in January. Omega said that he hopes to wrestle a young talent at the PPV event next year.

After his announcement, The Cleaner got into a backstage fight at NJPW Power Struggle with the NJPW Strong Openweight Champion Gabe Kidd who was angry that Omega didn't mention his name while addressing the locker room. In a recent chat with Sports Illustrated, Gabe Kidd opened up about the backstage fight against The Cleaner.

"Listen, I went to him backstage. I didn't try to get into any of this stuff happening. I knew where he was going to be after he got off the mic, I knew where he was gonna be, so I waited for him and those little rats of f***ing press staff, they were waiting around the corner, they heard us talking."

The NJPW star continued:

"I was just trying to have a conversation with him, but I was pissed. Listen, I said this to him before anything, before pro wrestling, I'm a man, a very mad one, so if you disrespect me like that, I hate when these people like MJF and Kenny, they try to act like they don't know what my name is because they're not cool and they try to act cool in front of these other people, wrestling fans, who are also not cool. It's just a bunch of not cool people trying to act cool and it ain't a good look, you get slapped for that where I'm from. So, I was just trying to have a conversation with him what happened, happened." H/T:[Fightful]

AEW star Kenny Omega has been out of action since last year

The Cleaner was diagnosed with diverticulitis last year which has kept him out of action till now. Kenny Omega has gotten surgery and is back in training. After hinting at his potential in-ring return at next year's Wrestle Dynasty PPV, many have been wondering when he will show up in AEW.

The Young Bucks (Nicholas & Matthew Jackson) were recently written off television for some time. Kenny Omega could make a shocking return with his former partners to confront Jon Moxley and The Death Riders for the chaos caused by them in AEW.

We will have to wait and see what the future holds for Kenny Omega in All Elite Wrestling.
