An AEW star has shared traumatizing details about his injury and also shed light on his recovery as he aims to come back to the ring. He also appeared to take a shot at the wrestler he faced when he suffered the injury.

Dalton Castle injured himself when he was wrestling Roderick Strong during a Collision taping on July 10, earlier this year at Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He has been out of action since and has been on the mend.

Castle has now shed more light on how the injury came to be and what he did to get back up to speed. The AEW star also took a shot at his opponent during the match. He felt that although Strong was not responsible for his plight, the latter did not cut him any slack after Dalton sustained the injury. He was speaking on the Alison Rosen podcast when he said:

“It was the last match I had. The guy I was wrestling, just a little freak accident happened, then it [left bicep] hurt. I was freaking out. The guy I was wrestling with took a cheap shot at me, or advantage of the situation. It sucks. I was supposed to go hiking the next day in Calgary. I lost the match, and then I lost my hiking trip and now I spend every day in physical therapy, and on the weekends I go antiquing. And that’s where I find my happy place, buying old mugs … The injury wasn’t his fault, but he just didn’t back down after. I thought we were friends, me and this guy. I was like ‘Hey, I need a second.’ He was like ‘No, no timeouts.’ … I don’t want to get into it.” [H/T Post Wrestling]

AEW star Dalton Castle does not want to think about wrestling during recovery

In the same podcast, the AEW star also stressed upon how he was managing to keep his mind off wrestling. He said watching the sport reminded him of his injury and so he tries staying away from it as much as he can while he recuperates.

Dalton Castle said that not being able to wrestle was unfortunate but he was making good progress in terms of recovery and hoped to be back inside the ring soon.

“I try not to think about it too much. The time off sucks. I’m just focusing on enjoying the time off and working on getting better and not watching what’s going on in wrestling and trying to keep my mind off it. Except [for when] my friends will do something cool and I’ll have to watch it and get sucked in, and get excited, and then I recognize that I’m still very much hurt and get angry. It’s this weird rollercoaster cycle of emotions,” he said.

The 38-year-old star is surely going through an emotional rollercoaster and will hope to come back stronger than ever. He is expected to make his AEW comeback in January 2025.
