Adam Cole competed in his first match in over a year this week on Dynamite. However, fans have expressed their unhappiness with something that happened during the match.

Adam Cole has been out of action due to a foot injury he suffered last year. He made sporadic appearances on AEW TV earlier this year but was mostly bound to a wheelchair.

After MJF returned and attacked him at AEW Double or Nothing 2024, Cole wasn't seen on TV until his return at AEW WrestleDream 2024. This time he was fully healed as he ran down to the ring and chased away MJF.

It was announced that Cole would face off against Buddy Matthews this week on Dynamite following his return. As expected, it was a hard-fought battle. During the bout, Buddy hit a buckle bomb and then followed it with the Stomp. However, when he went to pin Cole, the latter kicked out at 1 which surprised Matthews.

Adam Cole's next opponent was teased on AEW Dynamite

This week on AEW Dynamite, Adam Cole competed in his first match of the year against Buddy Matthews. Both men brought their best to the bout but it was Cole who emerged victorious.

Following the match, Cole got on the mic and credited his opponent for taking him to the limit. He then went to shake his hand and Buddy obliged. Just then, the lights went dark and when they came on, it was Malakai Black who was shaking Cole's hand instead of Buddy.

Cole and Black had an intense staredown before the former walked away. This could indicate that Cole's next opponent could be the leader of the House of Black himself. This will prove to be a tough challenge for Cole who needs to get three singles wins before Roderick Strong so that he can face Maxwell Jacob Friedman at AEW Full Gear 2024.
